Infrastructure now encompasses everything from highways and railroads to data centers and 5G. Run a search for “invest in infrastructure” and you might be surprised at the breadth of investment options.
Hey, this is Anne from Magnifi, and today I wanted to take a look at investing in infrastructure.
When I think about infrastructure, generally I'm thinking about roads, bridges, construction things that helped me get from one place to another. But as I was digging into some of these funds, I started to realize that I was excluding digital infrastructure. Things like fiber optic cables, data centers, 5G, those are all part of infrastructure these days.
As I was looking through these funds, I came across this one that is actually invested in data center REITs. REIT is a Real Estate Investment Trust. It invests in mortgages as well as physical property. I thought it was so cool that this one's actually investing in data centers. I think of how much data I use and go through every day, and how important it is that data centers are out there housing this data. That's basically the physical presence of the cloud in a place. I thought it was super cool that there's actually a whole fund out there that's dedicated to this.
I could add this to my watch list and keep an eye on it. This is one of the things I love about running a search like that. I started out thinking about roads and bridges and I ended up with a fund that focuses on data centers and really the future of infrastructure.
